Few months ago we started working as a volunteer nurses. At first we were afraid because this is now the real world on our own without anybody to depend (clinical instructors). We felt nervous the first day we were in the ward, we don't know what to do, our minds were full of "what if", " if it will happen", or "what would i do". And then day by day we start adjusting, learning the basics, knowing the personnel, doctors, staff nurses, the basic operational procedures and so on. After a week of observation we were then immersed to the tasks, and thank God we've done nothing harm to any pt, or any major mistakes. We've made a great experiences, build rapport with each other and specially to our pts, widened our knowledge, build our skills, and enhanced our attitude. Up to the moment where we were confident to do the task by our selves, carryout doctor's orders, do charting, giving meds, and performed some procedures, all by the supervision of our senior nurses. We realize that nursing is fun but its not easy, it is fulfilling but it takes a lot of heart for your patient. Hehehe
Indeed it was full of learning, and great experiences. Thank God.
